Mr. Brown  
Fifteen years have raced by since I began teaching, first at Rippon Middle School, followed by two short years at the Juvenile Detention Center, and now at Lake Ridge Middle School. The students, parents, and staff make LRMS an enjoyable, challenging, and rewarding mission.
Twenty years before entering the teaching profession, I raised my right hand as a newly commissioned officer in the U.S. Army. I spent my butter bar years 'defending' freedom in Europe as part of the Army's largest mechanized infantry division. After a few years of academic rigor, time passed quickly while deployed in the U.S.S.R., Bosnia-Herzegovina, and finally -but perhaps the most challengingof all- gracing the halls of the Pentagon. Academic background includes degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (BA), Indiana University (MA), and Marymount University (M.ED). My first wife is a registered nurse at Prince William Hospital Inc. in Manassas. Our two sons are graduates of Averret University and University of Virginia. Our daughter graduated from Christopher Newport University and now serves as a Prince William County Police Officer. Other than discussing history, government, economics, or religion, one might find me on an archery range, bass fishing boat, or sitting in a kayak. Teaching government and economics sails beyond the provision of information, facts, and dates so as to demonstrate proficiency on annual exams. The task involves developing understanding of a citizen's role and purpose in their community so that we may be a blessing one to another. | |
